Your Inbox

The Inbox is the list of everything that happened to you in TabApp: a payment someone says they made you, a bill made ready for payment, a reminder, a friend request, a tab you were added to. Everything is written there, even when you have switched off every email and push, so nothing is missed. What still needs you, such as a payment to confirm, is listed first, under Needs your action; the rest is under Earlier.

How to use your Inbox

1. On Home, press the bell at the top. When something is unread, the bell shows how many, and so does the icon of the installed app.
2. Read down Needs your action first. A row says what happened, and beneath it what kind of thing it is, which bill, and when, such as "Payment - Luigi's Trattoria - 5 min ago". A row you have not opened yet is marked New.
3. Press a row to open what it is about: a payment opens its payment, a bill ready for payment or a reminder opens the bill's Settle screen, and a friend request opens your requests.
4. Or act from the row itself: Confirm a payment that reached you, Pay what you owe, or Accept or Decline a friend request.
5. Press Mark read at the top to mark everything shown as read. Anything that arrives meanwhile stays unread.

Opening a row marks it read. Show older at the foot of the list goes further back; a row that still waits on you is under Needs your action however old it is.

Worked example: Luigi's on Maya's and Tom's phones

Maya paid the 77.66 at Luigi's Trattoria and made the bill ready for payment.

Tom's Inbox says "Luigi's Trattoria is ready for payment. You owe Maya 28.49", with Pay on the row. He pays her and says so.

Priya pays her 19.25 too. Five minutes later, Maya's Inbox has two rows under Needs your action: "Tom says they paid you 28.49" and "Priya says they paid you 19.25", each with Confirm. The bell reads "Inbox, 2 unread". Maya checks her bank and presses Confirm on Priya's row; it moves to Earlier and reads "You confirmed 19.25 from Priya".

If something stops you

• "You're all caught up." Nothing has happened yet, or everything has been read and answered.
• There is no Confirm on a payment. Only the person paid confirms it, and only while the bill is Ready for payment. A bill in a tab is paid in the tab, so its payments are confirmed there.
• The Inbox says it is as this phone last saw it. You are offline. You can read it, but confirming, answering a request and marking read wait for a connection.
• "Sign in to see your inbox." The Inbox belongs to an account. Someone taking part with no account hears by email instead.
