Friends

A friend is someone with an account who has said yes to your request, or whose request you said yes to. Friends come first when you pick people for a bill, a tab or a group, and are marked Friend in every list of people. A friend sees nothing more of you than anyone you share with, and you can ask only someone you already share a bill, tab or group with.

How to ask someone to be your friend

1. Open Me, then People, and press the person's row.
2. Press Add friend. It then reads Request sent, with Withdraw to take it back.

They are told you asked. If they had already asked you, asking answers their request and you are friends.

How to answer a request

1. In People, press Friend requests. The row says how many are waiting, such as "1 waiting".
2. Under For you, each request names the person and what they share with you.
3. Press Accept or Decline.

The same choice is on the person's screen, under "asked to be your friend". Declining is quiet: they are not told. Under Sent by you are the requests you sent, each with Withdraw.

How to unfriend someone

1. Open the friend's screen from People.
2. Open the menu at the top, and press Unfriend.
3. A message says you are no longer friends, with Undo.

An unfriend can be undone for 7 days. It changes no bill, tab or group you share.

Worked example: Maya and Sam

Maya and Sam share the Lisbon weekend tab. Maya opens Sam in People and presses Add friend. Her screen reads Request sent, and her Friend requests shows Sam under Sent by you as "Waiting for Sam".

Sam's People shows Friend requests with "1 waiting". Under For you it reads Maya, "Shares 1 tab with you". Sam presses Accept, and the message reads "You and Maya are friends". Maya now comes first in Sam's lists of people, marked Friend.

Had Sam later unfriended Maya, the message would read "You and Maya are no longer friends", with Undo for 7 days.

If something stops you

• There is no Add friend. The person is your friend already, you have a request waiting between you, or they have no account. Only someone with an account can be a friend.
• "You can ask only someone you share a bill, tab or group with". Split something with them first.
• "No friend requests." Nobody is waiting on you, and you have none waiting on anyone else.
• The buttons cannot be pressed. You are offline. Friend requests need a connection.
