What you are sent, and stopping it

Choose which emails and pushes TabApp sends you, turn notifications on for a phone or computer, and stop every message to an address.

TabApp tells you about everything by email unless you switch it off, and by a push on each phone or computer where you turned notifications on. Notifications in Me holds one switch for each kind of news and each way of being told, and each change is saved as you make it. Whatever you switch off, it is still written in your Inbox.

How to choose what you are sent

  1. Open Me and press Notifications, "What you are told, and how".
  2. In the table Tell me when, each row is a kind of news, such as Someone says they paid you or Reminders to pay, and each column is a way of being told: Push, Email and SMS.
  3. Untick a box to stop that kind of news that way. A message at the foot of the screen says what changed, such as "Email off: Reminders to pay".

Everything starts switched on. TabApp sends no texts yet, so the SMS column changes nothing for now. A friend request is told by push alone.

How to turn on notifications on this device

  1. On the same screen, the line at the top says whether notifications are on for this device: On, Off, Blocked in your browser settings or Not available.
  2. Press Turn on, then allow notifications when your browser asks.

Each phone and computer is turned on by itself. The Inbox, and a bill's Settle screen after you have paid or confirmed, offer the same: "Turn on notifications to hear about payments." Not now hides that offer for 30 days. Signing out stops pushes to that device.

How to stop every message to an address

Every email ends with Stop messages from TabApp.

  1. Open the link from the newest message.
  2. Press Stop messages.

Nothing more is sent to that address, whoever asks TabApp to send it, invites included. No sign-in is needed. The same page turns messages back on with Turn messages back on.

Worked example: the Lisbon weekend, quieter

Tom is on the Lisbon weekend tab and on a dozen bills. He wants to hear about money, and only on his phone.

He opens Notifications in Me and presses Turn on; the line now reads "Notifications on this device: On". In Tell me when he unticks Email on every row, and leaves Push ticked. When Priya confirms the 76.40 he paid her, his phone shows it, and the row is in his Inbox as well.

To hear less from the tab without touching his other bills, he opens the tab's Settings and switches on Mute this tab: "Hear only about payments to or from you. Everything stays in your inbox".

If something stops you

  • "Blocked in your browser settings". You refused notifications for TabApp once. Allow them in your browser's settings for this site, then come back and press Turn on.
  • An iPhone or iPad says Off and will not turn on. It shows notifications only from an app on the Home Screen. Install TabApp (see Installing TabApp), open it from there, and turn them on.
  • An invite reached you anyway. An invite to a bill goes to whatever address the person inviting you typed, so it has no switch here. The stop link at its foot refuses it, and everything else, for good.
