Installing TabApp
Put TabApp on your home screen, Dock or Start menu so it opens like any other app, in its own window.
TabApp runs in your browser, so there is nothing you have to download. Installing it puts its icon on your home screen or your computer, and it then opens like any other app, in its own window. It works the same either way, with no signal too. On an iPhone or iPad, installing it is what lets it show notifications.
How to install TabApp
- Open Me and press Install TabApp. The row is there only in a browser that can install it, and not once TabApp is open as an installed app.
- Follow what it says for your browser:
- Chrome or Edge. Press it, and confirm in the box your browser shows. "Open it from its own icon, like any other app."
- iPhone or iPad, in Safari. "Tap the Share button, then choose Add to Home Screen."
- iPhone or iPad, in another browser. "Open this browser's Share menu, then choose Add to Home Screen."
- Safari on a Mac. "In the File menu, choose Add to Dock. It then opens from the Dock in its own window."
- Firefox on Android. "Open the browser menu, then choose Add app to Home screen."
- Open TabApp from its new icon.
Home offers the same once you have made or settled a bill on a phone, or on your first visit on a computer. Not now hides that offer for 30 days; the row in Me stays.
Worked example: Priya before Lisbon
Priya uses TabApp in Safari on her iPhone. Before the Lisbon weekend she wants to hear when Tom pays her back, so she opens Notifications in Me. It says "Notifications on this device: Off", and that an iPhone shows notifications only from an app on the Home Screen.
She opens Me and presses Install TabApp, which reads "Tap the Share button, then choose Add to Home Screen." She does. She opens TabApp from its icon, signs in, and turns notifications on. When Tom pays her 76.40 at the airport, her phone tells her.
On her Windows laptop, in Edge, the same row says "It opens in its own window, from Start or the taskbar." She presses it and confirms in Edge's box.
If something stops you
- There is no Install TabApp in Me. TabApp is already open as an installed app, it was installed in this browser before, or this browser cannot install it, such as Firefox on a computer. Open TabApp in Chrome, Edge or Safari.
- Inside another app's browser. A link opened inside a messaging app cannot be installed from there: "Open this page in Safari, tap the Share button, then choose Add to Home Screen."
- You are asked to sign in again after installing. An app on an iPhone's Home Screen keeps its own sign-in, apart from Safari's. Sign in once inside it.
