Reminders, and forgiving an amount

When people owe you on a bill that is Ready for payment, Remind sends them a reminder from TabApp. It reaches only people with an account; for anyone else, Copy a message gives you words to send them yourself. Forgiving clears what someone owes you without money moving, and is offered in a tab.

How to remind people who owe you

1. Open the bill. Remind is at the head of You're owed, named for who it reaches, such as Remind Tom.
2. Read the line beneath it. It says who the reminder goes to, and who has no account and needs a message from you.
3. Press Remind. The line then says who was reminded.
4. For someone with no account, press Copy a message and paste it into a chat with them.

Someone who has said they paid is not reminded: the next step is yours, to confirm it. You can remind the same person on a bill once a day, and Remind says when you can next. After a few reminders about one bill TabApp sends no more, and Remind says to ask them yourself.

In a tab, Remind is on each person's sheet in its Balances.

How to forgive an amount

1. Open the tab, and its Balances.
2. Press the row of the person who owes you. Their sheet opens.
3. Press Forgive. The button names what they owe you, such as Forgive 24.00.

Forgiving clears what they owe you without money moving. It is recorded and shown, and you can undo it from the same sheet. Only the person owed can forgive, and it needs an account. A bill that is not in a tab has no Forgive.

Worked example: Maya reminds, Priya forgives

Maya paid for Luigi's Trattoria. Tom owes her 28.49, Priya 19.25 and Alex 11.22. Tom has an account; Priya joined through a link with no account, and Alex was added by name.

Maya's button reads Remind Tom, and the line beneath says "Remind goes to Tom. Priya and Alex have no account here, so message them yourself." She presses it, and the line says "Reminded Tom. Priya and Alex have no account here, so message them yourself." Copy a message copies "Luigi's Trattoria - Tom 28.49, Priya 19.25, Alex 11.22. Pay Maya:" followed by the bill's link, which she pastes into the group chat.

In the Lisbon weekend tab, Priya is owed 122.20, and Sam owes her 24.00, his share of the dinner at Ramiro. Priya decides to let it go. She opens Sam's sheet from Balances and presses Forgive 24.00. Sam is paid up, and Priya is still owed 98.20: 76.40 from Tom and 21.80 from Maya.

If something stops you

• Remind cannot be pressed. Nobody who owes you has an account, or you reminded them lately, or they have had every reminder TabApp will send. The button says which.
• There is no Remind. You are on the bill through a link with no account, the bill is settled, or you have no connection.
• There is no Forgive. The bill is not in a tab, or the person owes you nothing.
