Your payment methods
Save how people can pay you, so anyone who owes you can open a payment link or copy your bank details.
Your payment methods, in Me, are the ways people can pay you. Anyone who owes you on a bill sees them on the sheet they pay from: a link opens their payment app, and details such as a sort code can be copied. TabApp never moves the money itself; you confirm each payment when it arrives.
How to add a payment method
- Open Me and press Payment methods.
- Press Add a method.
- Choose the method: PayPal, Revolut, Monzo, Starling, Venmo, Cash App, Zelle, Pix or Bank account.
- Fill in its fields. Each says what it takes, such as "Six digits, like 12-34-56." for a sort code.
- Press Save.
With nothing saved, the screen says "Add how people can pay you. Cash always works."
Changing, removing and ordering
- Change one. Press it, change its fields and press Save.
- Remove one. Press it, then Remove. The message that says so offers Undo.
- Put them in order. With two or more saved, the arrows beside each move it up or down. People paying you on a bill see them in this order.
Changing your payment methods needs a connection.
Who sees them
The screen says it as it is: "Anyone who owes you on a bill you share sees these so they can pay you, guests with no account included. The people you share a bill, tab or group with can see everything here except your bank account."
What someone paying you sees
- PayPal, Monzo, Venmo, Cash App and Starling are links that open with the amount filled in.
- Revolut is a link that opens for them to enter the amount.
- Bank account, Zelle and Pix are details they press to copy into their own app.
- Nothing saved. The sheet says you haven't added payment details, and to ask you, or pay in cash.
When you record a payment yourself, How they paid offers your saved methods first, in your order, then Bank, then Cash.
Worked example: Maya's PayPal and bank account
Maya saves PayPal with maya@example.com, and her bank account with its sort code and account number. Tom owes her 28.49 for Luigi's Trattoria.
When Tom presses Pay, his sheet shows Maya's Account name, Sort code and Account number, each to copy, and PayPal, which says "Opens with the amount filled in". Pressing it opens PayPal to pay Maya 28.49. Had Tom changed the amount to 20.00, the link would carry 20.00.
Had Maya saved Revolut too, it would say "Opens for you to enter the amount", and Tom would type 28.49 himself.
If something stops you
- A field is refused. It says what it expects, such as "A sort code is six digits, like 12-34-56."
- Add a method is missing. Every method is saved already: press one to change it.
