Print, save as PDF and export

Print a bill on paper, save it as a PDF to send or keep, or export its items to a spreadsheet as a CSV file.

A bill can be printed, saved as a PDF, or exported as a CSV file for a spreadsheet. The printed bill and the PDF show the same thing: every item and who had it, the totals, each person's share, who paid, and once the bill is Ready for payment, its payments and what is still to pay. Anyone on the bill can print it or save it.

How to print a bill or save it as a PDF

  1. Open the bill and press Bill settings at the top.
  2. Press Print or save as PDF. The bill is shown as it will look on paper.
  3. Press Print to open your browser's print dialog, or Save as PDF.

Where your phone can share files, Save as PDF opens its share sheet, so the PDF can go straight into a message or your files. Everywhere else it is downloaded. On an iPhone or iPad with TabApp installed on the home screen, the print dialog cannot be opened, so only Save as PDF is offered.

How to export a bill as a CSV file

  1. Open Bill settings and press Export CSV.
  2. Tick or untick Include participant splits and Include totals. The preview shows the first rows.
  3. Press Download CSV.

The file has a row for each item, with its quantity, unit price and total, then a row for each extra, and with totals included, a subtotal row and a total row. With the splits included, there is also a column for each person with their part of each row.

What the printed bill shows

  • The top: the bill's name, whether it is Open, Ready for payment or Settled, its date, and the tab or group it counts in.
  • Items: each item with its price, how it was split and who had it. Below them, the subtotal, each extra and the total, and anything not claimed yet.
  • Each person: their items, their part of the extras, and their share.
  • Who paid: each payer and how much.
  • Payments and Still to pay: only once the bill is Ready for payment.

Worked example: Luigi's on paper

Maya saves the bill at Luigi's Trattoria as a PDF once it is Ready for payment. The file is called "Luigi's Trattoria - 14 Jun 2026.pdf". Under Items it lists, among the rest:

ItemPriceHow it was split
Garlic bread6.00Split evenly: Maya, Tom, Priya, Alex
Peroni x315.60By units: Tom (2), Alex (1)

Then Subtotal 70.60, Service (10%) 7.06 and Total 77.66. Under Each person, Tom's share is 28.49: Diavola 14.00, Garlic bread 1.50, Peroni 10.40 and Extras 2.59. Who paid says Maya, 77.66. Still to pay lists Tom to Maya 28.49, Priya to Maya 19.25 and Alex to Maya 11.22.

If something stops you

  • There is no Print button. The app is installed on an iPhone or iPad's home screen. Use Save as PDF instead.
  • The PDF could not be made. A toast says so, with a way to try again.
