Your statement, and how a balance got where it is

Every change to what you owe or are owed across your bills and tabs, newest first, with a running balance in each currency.

Your statement lists every change to what you owe or are owed, across every bill and tab you are on, newest first. Beside each change is your balance after it, so you can check any figure TabApp shows you and see when and why it moved. Balances says where your money stands now; the statement says how it got there.

How to open your statement

  1. Open Settings and press Statement under All data.
  2. Or open Balances and press Statement at its foot.

How to read it

  1. Where you stand at the top gives your balance in each currency: a plus while you're owed, a minus while you owe. With more than one currency it adds them up in your own currency at today's rates, as a guide only.
  2. With more than one currency, press a chip such as £ GBP or € EUR to see that currency's changes. Currencies are never mixed in one balance.
  3. Each row says what happened, then the day and the bill or tab. On the right is the change, with its sign, and beneath it your balance after it, green while you're owed and red while you owe.
  4. Press a row to open its bill's payments, or the tab's balances.
  5. Press Show older at the end for the changes before. The list ends with "The start of your statement".

How to narrow it to some bills or dates

  1. Press Filter at the top right.
  2. Under Bills and tabs, tick the bills and tabs you want, or Everything.
  3. Under When, choose All time, This month, Last 3 months, This year, or Choose dates and set the first and last day.
  4. Press the button that says how many changes it will show.

The list shows only those changes, and each keeps the balance it has on your whole statement, so the figures still match Balances. Filter says how many filters are on, and Clear in the filter goes back to everything. The filter stays in the page's address, so reloading the page shows the same list. If nothing matches, the statement says so, with Clear.

What makes a change

  • A bill when it is made ready for payment, for what you're owed or owe on it.
  • A payment between you and someone else. One you say you sent counts at once, marked Not confirmed yet until it is confirmed; one sent to you counts once you confirm it.
  • A bill in a tab, under the tab's name, in the tab's currency at its locked rate.
  • The payment that brings a bill or tab to nothing is marked Settled.

A change after a bill was ready

If a bill changes after it was ready, such as being reopened and changed, deleted, brought back, moved into a tab, or a payment on it taken back, the difference is a row of its own marked After it was ready. Earlier rows never change.

  1. Press the row to open its sheet.
  2. Read what changed, when and by whom, what you stood at on the bill before and after, and your balance after.
  3. Press Open and the bill's name to go to it.

Worked example: Maya's Luigi's Trattoria

Maya paid the whole bill at Luigi's Trattoria, 58.96 of it for Tom, Priya and Alex. Her statement in pounds reads, newest first:

  • Luigi's Trattoria changed, marked After it was ready: -5.72, balance +5.50. Alex's drink was taken off after the bill was ready. Maya presses the row, and the sheet says she was owed 58.96 on it and is owed 53.24 now.
  • Tom paid you: -28.49, balance +11.22. It counted once Maya confirmed it had arrived.
  • Priya paid you: -19.25, balance +39.71.
  • Luigi's Trattoria is ready: +58.96, balance +58.96.

Her balance in pounds, +5.50, is the figure Balances shows her for the bill.

With no connection

Your statement shows the copy this device last kept, with the time it was taken, and says it may have changed since. Show older needs a connection, and a filter narrows the kept copy. The first time, the statement needs a connection to load.
