Signing in

Make a free account or sign in, keep a guest seat with your account, and sign out of a device.

An account keeps your bills, tabs and groups on every device you sign in on. Claiming and paying on a bill need none, but starting a bill, joining a tab or a group from its shared link, and the Inbox do. TabApp signs you in through its sign-in provider, so it never holds a password of yours.

How to sign in or make an account

  1. Press Sign in, or start something that needs an account. The screen says what you are signing in to, such as Sign in to join Lisbon weekend.
  2. Choose one of the ways the form offers, and follow it.
  3. With no account yet, change to making one: the heading reads Create your account.

Account in Me says which way you sign in, such as Google and your address.

How to sign out

  1. Open Me and press Sign out at its foot.
  2. If changes made with no signal are still on the phone, you are asked first. Press Stay signed in to keep them, or Sign out anyway.

Signing out removes your bills from this device and stops notifications to it.

Worked example: Sam joins the Lisbon weekend

Maya sends Sam the shared link of the Lisbon weekend tab. Sam has no account. The link says why one is needed: "A tab keeps a balance between people over time, so joining one from its shared link needs an account. Paying a single bill does not."

Sam presses Create an account, and the heading reads Create an account to join Lisbon weekend. Once it is made, Sam is on the tab, and on every bill added after.

If something stops you

  • "You need a connection to sign in." Signing in is checked online.
  • "Signing out needs a connection." Wait until you are back online, so nothing on this phone is lost.
  • You were a guest on a bill. Sign in from the bill and your seat becomes your account's (see Keeping your seat with an account).
